Does luck have a use by date? Both thought that at eighty they have experienced everything until, like a bolt of lightening, Rosa and Bruno come together and immediately fall head over heels. There are two obstacles to their happiness though: Bruno’s marriage, which has long been routine, and Rosa’s illness; she has cancer and not long left to live. Despite the difficult circumstances, the two decide to breakaway – Bruno from his relationship and Rosa from her retirement home. Against the advice of carers, doctors and relatives, the pair moves into a new apartment together. ANFANG 80 shows with a great deal of unequivocal humour how insensitively and sometimes desperately overburdened society reacts to love among the elderly.
Together with her best friend Milena, the ambitious dancer Anna works hard to realize her dream of a successful dance career. When the chance arose to get one of the coveted places in the corps de ballet, Anna was immediately hooked and trained day and night. The only opposition to her plan comes from her father, who wants to protect her from the immense pressure. His worries do not seem unfounded: Anna's path to the top turns out to be steep and rocky - and gradually leads to a nightmare.
The young fashion designer Laura floats in the seventh heaven: After she has found an engagement ring with her friend Alexander, she is sure that he wants to use the joint visit to his parents to officially stop her hand. However, the family weekend is not a good star. Alexander's self-confident mother makes Laura feel that she is not good enough for her son. To make matters worse, even his ex-girlfriend Susanne appears, who leaves no stone unturned to win Alexander back.
Two apartments are joined together, the demolition of a wall transfers two small flats into a big one. Seven young people move in and share the living quarters. They all have definite ideas about life and living together and want to make them come true. But they don´t really know what they want. Everyday life causes problems and when a merry-go-round of changing relationships among the young people begins to run quicker and quicker, the constant moving from one room to the other ands before the eyes of the astonished house superintendent with the setting up again of the wall which separated the two walls.
